ThriveLib Code of Conduct
Purpose and Values
ThriveLib is committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants. As a conference centered on well-being in library work, we prioritize psychological safety, belonging, and dignity for everyone, regardless of role, identity, or lived experience.
We welcome people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, abilities, body sizes, ages, socio-economic statuses, educational backgrounds, family statuses, position in hierarchical structures, and more. Our diversity strengthens our community and helps us better understand and support one another in our work and lives.
Consequences for Violations
- Warnings will be given by hosts or co-hosts on a case-by-case basis, and some behavior may result in removal without warning.
- Anyone found violating the Code of Conduct will be removed from the session and may be banned from the remainder of the event.
- No refunds will be issued to attendees removed due to Code of Conduct violations.
Expectations for Participation
We expect all participants, including speakers, organizers, sponsors, and attendees, to:
Use respectful, inclusive language and honor name and pronoun preferences.
Listen actively and make space for all voices.
Be mindful of how privilege and power dynamics shape interactions.
Engage in ways that support learning, growth, and psychological safety.
Respect boundaries, including requests for privacy, silence, or space.
Unacceptable Behavior
Examples of behavior that will not be tolerated include:
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, ableist, or exclusionary jokes or statements
- causing someone to fear for their safety, such as through stalking, unwanted or unreciprocated messaging, following, or intimidation,
- Threats or violent language directed against another person
- The display of sexual or violent images
- Unwelcome sexual attention
- Disruptive behavior or language that interferes with or obstructs the teaching or learning process
- Insults or put-downs
- “Trolling” and “sealioning” (asking questions intended to harass)
- Incitement to violence, suicide, or self-harm
- Publication of private information or communication without consent, including “doxxing” or recording chat conversations or forum posts.
- Adding AI notetakers to the Zoom sessions.
Anyone found violating the Code of Conduct will be immediately removed from the session and may be banned from the remainder of the event.
No refunds will be issued to attendees removed due to Code of Conduct violations.
Use of AI Tools
- Use of AI notetakers will not be allowed in the webinars.
- Any AI detected will be removed and blocked from the webinar.
- If you use an AI notetaker that automatically joins meetings, it is your responsibility to disable it before the event. Failure to do so is a violation of the code of conduct.
Reporting and Accountability
- If you witness or experience behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, we encourage you to report it. You may:
- Notify a session host or co-host in the webinar or a ThriveLib team member.
- Contact us at [email protected], the email will be monitored during live events.
